Empower, Encourage, & Educate
From Mountain to Desert
Jocelyn Kleinsmith, An Intrepid Woman
Jocelyne is a nurse who trained with Karri, our Nurse Manager, and volunteered at the Care Net clinic for years. She was such a blessing to us and we had mixed emotions when she let us know she was moving. She is doing a great work in Mexico and we are so thankful for the time we had her at our clinic. We asked her to write a little about her work in Mexico and thought we would share it with you.
"I recently moved from Missoula down to the hot and humid border city of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. I encountered a bit of culture shock, yes, but mostly a major weather transition.
I work here in a small clinic, El Centro de Salud, that sits on the grounds of my missionary organization and church. The clinic has been closed since the beginning of the pandemic, but is fully stocked, thanks to generous benefactors who provided supplies and medications over the years. Praise Jesus, the doors are now open and we are ready to serve! Our staff includes Brenda (a dedicated psychologist) and myself (the nurse).
We provide free or very affordable services for the community and anyone who walks through the clinic doors. Following morning clinic hours, I make home visits to provide assessments and care for those in our community. I love home visits immensely because they provide the opportunity to enter into an individual's home and family life.
Volunteering at Care Net provided an example of the beauty that flourishes in a place offering truly compassionate healthcare. One encounter with an individual that deeply cares about not only your physical health, but also your emotional and spiritual health as well, can be life-changing. This is the model I am working to implement in my little Mexican clinic. Mirroring the example of Care Net, the goal is that each soul walking through my clinic doors may be treated as if Christ Himself were walking in.
Though I often feel ill-equipped for work, being such a young nurse with two very small hands, the Lord is constantly proving that His are the hands at work; He provides healing, both physical and spiritual. May we open the doors of our hearts to the Divine Physician, who provides such rest for the soul.

We are looking for a few more men and women to help with our Life Steps program. Life Steps mentors are paired with a client who wants to learn about pregnancy, labor and delivery, and parenting. This is an opportunity to build a one-on-one relationship with a client, show the love of Jesus, and provide support and encouragement.
Care Net is looking for a few more people to join our board. A major key to being an effective organization is having a good board. If you have been looking for a way to become more involved with Care Net and feel you have the time and effort to help Care Net succeed, please contact Care Net.
We have a new volunteer opportunity opening up at Care Net! Care Net is looking for a Blog Coordinator, which would entail writing articles and sourcing additional contributing writers with the heart to connect Care Net to our local community. If you love to gather information, write, and support the pro-life cause, please call Care Net!
Care Net is also looking for Pregnancy Consultant volunteers. A Pregnancy Consultant conducts the initial intake and spends time with a client who is considering all of their options regarding pregnancy. This would be a commitment of 3 hours a week in our office.
Care Net publishes a newsletter (the very one your are reading!) every other month. We need a team 4 to 5 people to fold the newsletter and prepare it for mailing. A church group, retirement group, homeschool group, or family group would be ideal.
Please contact Care Net if you are interested in any of these opportunities!
